As you may have noticed, the blog has been dormant for a while.
As usual, life gets in the way. Between boat projects, visiting Calgary, adopting another dog and keeping our YouTube channel up to date, we simply ran out of hours in the day.
The off season was dedicated to never ending boat projects: rebuilding the main engine coolant pump, painting the engine, painting the engine room, replacing the walls and trim in the shower, maintenance and oil changes on all of the systems, getting new carpets and laminate, restocking our inventory of spare parts, etc etc etc.
We left Sidney in early May and went south to Poulsbo, WA for the 2024 Nordhavn Owners Rendezvous. It was our first visit to the USA by boat, and we thoroughly enjoyed catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. The Nordhavn community is just fantastic.
On May 20 we cast off the lines and set out for our summer trip. Our loosely laid plan is to explore the Northern BC Coast and return home to Sidney in September.
So far, so good! We rounded Cape Caution, visited the incredible beaches at Calvert Island, explored the dilapidated buildings in Namu, docked in Ocean Falls and marveled at what’s left of the once vibrant town, caught salmon, crab and halibut, and have discovered quite a few quiet anchorages off the beaten path.
We’re over the moon to be out on the hook after the winter at the dock.
So exciting the adventures ahead of you!
